Robert Vickers says:

"Peter Langmaid emerged triumphant on the Medium course in the 2007-8 Night Street League, and received his trophy at the prizegiving following the final event in the series, at Worcester East.
Peter had organised this grand finale to the season himself, and put the finishing touch to the celebrations with a mouth-watering selection of cakes (energy restoration) baked also by himself.
John Embrey emerged as Champion Night Street Headbanger on the Long course, and received his trophy from Brian Hughes who had coordinated the very successful 2007-8 series of events."

7th March
Winter Evening League, Uffmoor results and final league table can be found here

Barry H says:

"Thanks to David Williams for planning an excellent event again at Uffmoor Wood, . A few more areas like this, embedded in some of our others and we really would have some top notch orienteering venues. Congratulations to Captain Richard Dearden for winning the event and maybe managing to just clear all the controls. (Sorry, but I could not see the punch marks at 18). Mike Baggot did extremely well coming in a close second (the time penalty did not affect the final results Mike) and Chris McSweeny third without a compass. How about doing it without a light next time Chris, give some of us a chance?

The BUOC ladies turned up on the night and Kath McMillan W21, just managed to edge Alison Sloman W70 into second place, although as Alison had very recently updated the map she ran as Non Competitive.

The prizegiving for the WEE League was held at the Vine Pub, Upper Clent. They looked after us well and reserved an area specially for us. It was always going to be close for the Men's title, but Richard Deaden's win on the night put him clear of John Embrey with David Williams third. Alison Sloman took the ladies title, from a late challenger in the form of Barbara Ford and Kath McMillan was third overall. Well done everyone and we look forward to next season.

Don't forget to claim your 25 points by volunteering to plan one of next seasons events, volunteer early enough and you can even choose the venue."

27th February
Barry H says:

"Winter Evening League drawing to an exciting finish

Looks like Alison is romping away with the ladies title this year, She obviously was very envious of the trophy and wants to put it on her mantle piece.

In the gents battle, if John Embrey can win and Richard is no higher than 3rd then its his title. Looks like Dave Williams in 3rd. but if dark horse Andy the Hemp romps away from the field, he could just squeeze past.

Don't forget, you drop your worst event, it's all to play for. Come along to the final event at Uffmoor Thursday March 6th. and see history unfolding. We hope to be able to announce the winners and do the prize giving immediately after the event at The Vine Pub, Upper Clent. Good food and excellent beer and cider. See You there."

Thanks

Barry

###STOP PRESS### - White Rose Remains On Same Weekend For 36th Year Running

Towards the end of last year, there was some confusion about the position regarding the White Rose Weekend in August 2008, and some initial thoughts that the weekend might have been held in May under a slightly different format.

Over the last two or three months however, plans have been finalised for the event weekend to take place in the traditional format this summer, over the August bank holiday weekend - with five separate orienteering races (two regional events, a night score, a team relay and a MTBO score) based around the event assembly and campsite at Low North Park just NW of Scarborough.

Full details are now available at the new 2008 website at www.whiteroseweekend.org.uk, and further details will be available at major events from JK2008 onwards.

We hope to welcome you to North Yorkshire again for White Rose 2008.

Regards
Bill

NIGHT STREET LEAGUE (NSL)
REMAINING PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME 2008
5.	Wed Jan 9 Kidderminster Martyn Bickerton
6. Tuesday 22nd Jan Castle Vale John Embrey
7.	Tues 5 February Bournville Colin Spears
8. Tues 19 Feb Malvern Simon Vickers
9.	Weds 5 March Worcester, East PLANNER REQUIRED
The planner for the event in March has had to pull out for very good personal reasons. If you are able to volunteer for the job, please contact Brian. The Hall is booked and a good OCAD map is available.
To keep up to date, watch the HOC website, ADHOC, and ask to be put on Brian Hughes's NSL e-mail tree
Most of these events will be advertised separately in ADHOC. If not, all the phone numbers are in the HOC Contacts list.
Remember this is provisional. It is sensible to check with the organiser before travelling, just in case of last minute cancellation or postponement. This will also help the planner to print only the required number of maps.
