A series of informal events that take place on spring and summer weekday evenings (Thursdays mostly). The first event is usually at the end of April with one event every week until late July, if we get enough volunteers to organise events. The programme includes the annual June Jaunter (see right), but results do not count for league points.
You do not have to enter for the league - just turn up and run (but it helps to give the individual event organisers the notice they ask for so they can prepare enough maps etc). If you're a HOC member you will be credited with league points.
And if that's not enough, our neighbour clubs
Wrekin Orienteers and
Octavian Droobers
hold their summer evening events on Tuesdays and Wednesdays respectively.
Final 2015 League Table after all 10 events. Your final score is decided on your best int(n/2) + 1 events, e.g. 6 out of 10.

*The June Jaunter does not count as part of the league
The SEE coordinator for 2015 is Andy White.
Format
A series of informal Thursday evening events held from April/May to July/August each year with nominal entry fees.
SI dibbers are used for timing the start and finish - if you forget your dibber a few spares
are available to borrow. Normal control markers are used with codes to write down (no punches)
in order to reduce both the work of the Organiser/Planner and the risk of vandalism.
Registration will be mainly DIY.
They provide an opportunity for members to gain experience in course planning, but any member may volunteer to organise one.
No Controller is appointed, but novice planners may seek guidance from club Controllers as necessary.
Organisers should consult the Summer Evening Event Guidelines (updated April 2013).
A nearby pub or hut may be used for post-event course analysis but most events will be run from the back of a car by the organiser.
Courses
Each event offers three courses - Yellow / Orange, Green(ish) and Blue(ish), depending on
available terrain - most are not suitable for courses of Technical Difficulty level 5.
To save effort, the Blue course can be the same as the Green with an extra loop to make up the
distance; the Orange can be Yellow with a few extra legs/controls of Technical Difficulty level 3.
Scoring
There will be 4 awards – Mens Trophy, Ladies Trophy, Junior Mens Trophy and Junior Ladies Trophy.
For the purposes of the league juniors = M/W18 and below
Runners on each course are divided up by trophy class and then allocated points as follows:
Competitors running out of class:
The JUNE JAUNTER is not part of the league.
The league coordinator will ensure fair play and reserves the right not to award points to competitors who blatantly run a course below their current ability. Special pleading will be allowed but it will not necessarily do you any good.

Summer Evening Events are flexible, relaxed and low key. Times and courses offered may vary from event to event to suit the constraints of the area and the whims of the organiser. If in doubt check the details or ask the organiser.
Anyone can come to an SEE - you do not have to be a member, you do not need to have orienteered before, they are great fun.
Courses: Usually Blue-ish - 5+ km, Green-ish 3 to 4km, Orange 2 to 3 km. Blue and Green are generally as technically difficult as the planner can achieve at the venue, Orange will be a bit easier. Yellow (1.5 to 2km, easy) courses can be provided but please let the event organiser know in advance.
Times: Registration is normally from around 18:00. Starts from 18:15 to 19:00. Times are usually flexible and depend on how fast the organiser can get the controls out, and how long it is going to take to collect them in afterwards.
Participants are responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk. PLEASE NOTE that the carrying of whistles is compulsory at all HOC events (we will have a few to hire or borrow).
This is a timed mini-fell run around Clent and Walton Hills. Starting from Nimmings car park, competitors have to visit the trig points at the top of Clent and Walton Hills, and the stile by Clent Church, in any order. If you can beat 20 minutes, you're doing very well. The June Jaunter archive (Excel spreadsheet) contains a complete set of times up to and including 2015.
