King’s Heath NSL results and comments

Results and Maprun results from our Night Street League event on Thursday 27th October at Kings Heath, Birmingham are here. Planner / Organiser (and series co-ordinator) John reports:

In complete contrast to the icy start to last year’s NSL series in the streets of St John’s in Worcester, the opening event of the 2022/23 series took place on an unseasonably mild night in King’s Heath, where I was very comfortable sitting in a cabin outside the Red Lion pub waiting for the return of 17 competitors.

The last time we used this venue, Richard Price was a newcomer and made a bit of a mark coming 4th. This time, Richard almost cleared all but one of the controls, including a clutch in a distant new estate at Brandwood, and was only 6 seconds overtime. Both Richard and Simon Lanckham ran over 13 km on the evening, while second placed Eloise Lee ran almost 12km. Excellent timekeeping saw James Thomas run into third place.

As well as lots of familiar faces, it was great to see several newcomers getting to grips with the Night Street format with Molly Browne, George Dibble and Richard Stanley getting in amongst the leaders.

A dozen or so club members and friends stayed on for a bite to eat after the event and once again entered the pub quiz with hopes of repeating the win on the last time we used this pub as a NSL venue. On this occasion, we only came third despite scoring a maximum 10 out of 10 on our joker round.

Many thanks to everyone that turned up to this event- we look forward to seeing you at our next event in Aston on 17th November
