COBOC History

City of Birmingham Orienteering Club ( COBOC ) was founded in 1991 by Glynn Roberts, then Head of Birmingham Outdoor Education Department following the dissolution of SOLOS (a Solihull based Orienteering Club).

The Club founded the Peter Palmer Junior Night Orienteering Relay Championships which became a national annual competition for Juniors.

It was one of the youngest orienteering clubs in the West Midlands, with the primary aim of promoting orienteering in areas and groups not catered for by the larger “mainstream” clubs in the area.

In July 2023 it merged with Harlequins Orienteering Club, forming a sub-group operating as City of Birmingham Orienteering. The contents of the website are archived here:
