Mapping Get-Together

Mapping Get-Together

There’s nothing more important for Orienteering than a map!  Mapping Officer Paul Basher is planning to put on a get-together for anyone interested in mapping. This will include information useful to existing mappers- new technology, Lidar, GPS, etc- and also provide an introduction to what’s involved for anyone interested in joining the team. Anyone interested should email Paul.

Soudley Ponds (NGOC) now POSTPONED

A second message form our southern neighbours, updating the situation: Further to the earlier post below, FE have now informed us of large exclusion zones covering most of the area, so this means the event is now infeasible. Burlish Top Winter Evening Event 09-01-25
It was one of the rare occasions when a WEE was actually quite wintry. Putting out controls
in the afternoon sun was a pleasure, but the temperature dropped back below freezing as
the sun went down. The upside was firm conditions underfoot after the mudbaths of
Hollybed Common and Longdon Orchard.
Evidently the 6.3km course wasn’t quite long enough as six runners cleared it within time,
with Simon scoring a very effective win in just over 50 minutes. James Thomas gets the
Jammy Dodger for clearing the course with only three seconds to spare.
Apologies to those who emailed to reserve a map – I’d made an error in the address on the
flyer. Luckily I had just enough maps to go round.
Next week (16 Jan) we’re back on the streets at Wardon village on the east side of
Worcester, then on 23 Jan we’re in the woods again at Pitcheroak, Redditch. See you there!
