Next hill south from Brown Clee, also one of HOC’s more technical areas particularly if the mist and fog descend. Open rough moorland – mainly grass with areas of bracken, tussocks and marsh. Much mined with large quarries, spoil heaps, old buildings etc. on the top. Load and loads of bell pits on lower slopes. Few paths. Underlying terrain is smooth with few spurs or re-entrants. Old sand quarry converted to nature reserve. A compact area with complex contours and extensive path network. Used for Local events. The Permanent Orienteering Course has five maps offering courses of varying length and difficulty. The two shorter, harder courses are GPS enabled.
Large country park with mixed open and densely wooded areas. Can be used for Local, Regional and Schools events. The Permanent Orienteering Course has a map showing all the posts, with some suggested courses of varying length and difficulty.
