Fast open heath combined with fast birch and areas of mixed deciduous woodland. Flat with lots of little paths but it is good planning takes you off into the terrain. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust are very supportive with our events. Events held in earlier years:
A large public park which includes Highbury Hall and its surrounding estate – once the home of Joseph Chamberlain, who bequeathed it to the people of Birmingham. Another part of the park was once owned by the Cadbury Family and was, similarly, bequeathed to the city in the early 20th century. Nowadays it has many of the older features of the 19th century estates, including the Highbury Orchard and fishpond, plus extensive woodland. Events held in earlier years:

A Forestry England wood, typical of Wyre Forest terrain. Mostly conifers covering the whole range, with varying runnability. They are planted in tiny little blocks – making mapping very difficult and navigation challenging, particularly parts with complex vegetation boundary or gully areas. As the blocks have now mature the boundaries are much less clear. There has been a great deal of thining resulting in many parrallel extraction lanes with brashings. Nice bits of oak woodland between large areas of conifer….
A very varied area which always make you think. Used for both Local and Regional events (the latter subject to finding an available car park) A sandy bluff which used to be the bank of the river Severn, flat former flood plain below, gently sloping plateau above. Mostly rough open heath with patches of windblown sand, broome and gorse. Large & small patches of naturally seeded birch and oak and 2 small conifer plantations offer fast running. A former rabbit…
Excellent area for local events; can be tricky at night! A country park consisting of a wooded valley floor and sides – birch, oak and sweet chestnuts. Lots of sandstone pillars, crags and spurs.
