2024

  • We hosted the British Sprint Relays on 22nd June at Birmingham University.
  • Jeremy Geere lead a review of the Constitution which was then ratified at the AGM.
  • HOC had a very tough CompassSport Cup round at Brereton Spurs, finishing 4th to OD, NGOC and DVO.
  • Ben Crone took over the co-ordination of the Summer Series, which this year featured John Leeson’s Bartley Marathon homage to Jasmin Paris’ phenomenal achievement earlier in the year.
  • Jeremy also planned the first event at Arley Arboretum including a memorable visit to their maze.
  • Another first, and equally memorable, was the indoor orienteering in the “Jungle Boogie” during Richared Price’s Codsall Night Street Event.

saw Birmingham City Centre host a Euro City Tour event.

2021

saw the sport returning after the height of Covid19 restrictions. One result was two Club Championships in the same calendar year. An informal picnic at Hartlebury Common in June after the 2021 version was so popular that it raised the question – should we move the Championships from December to a warmer month?

2020

The year of lockdowns. Socially distanced orienteering was possible when Covid19 restrictions allowed, thanks to the relatively new MapRun app. We negotiated the extensive guidance to hold a “normal” score event at Castlemorton Common during one of the stretches between lockdowns.
